Two long-time volunteers recognized
Abbeyfield Canada is pleased to recognize the long service and dedication of Sylvia Gent and Florence Graham and present them with Robert McMullan Awards for Excellence and Outstanding Service.
This year’s nominations were judged by an awards committee and the recipients were announced at Abbeyfield Canada’s annual general meeting on May 11. The Robert McMullan Award recognizes volunteers with at least 15 years of service to Abbeyfield Canada and who have played a vital role within the organization and their individual House Societies.
Sylvia was a co-founder of the Abbeyfield Houses Society of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and has served on the boards of Abbeyfield Canada and the Houses Society of Prince Albert for many years. She continues to inspire her fellow volunteers, House staff members and residents with her energy and passion.
Florence has served on the Abbeyfield Houses Society of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for many years, and also on the Abbeyfield Canada board. She helped to ensure that the Saskatoon House remained as an Abbeyfield House. Florence spends countless hours assisting the House staff and residents, showing that for her, Abbeyfield is more than a place to live, but rather a welcoming home for older adults.
