Inspired by legacy, fueled by compassion and community
Our story began with Richard Carr-Gomm, a man who dedicated his time to combat loneliness in older people. Today, that spirit of compassion lives on in our network of thousands of volunteers across our 19 operating independent Member Societies in Canada and more than 12 new groups imagining new societies in new communities. You can become part of this legacy by volunteering at your local Abbeyfield.
At Abbeyfield, our amazing volunteers are the heart of what we do. With their dedication, we can enhance the lives of older people through social connection and keep people connected to their local communities in later life.
Roles available
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities and have countless roles to suit the amount of time you can give. Volunteering roles include directors, gardening, befriender, activities assistants, admin support, community ambassadors, event planners and many more.
The most important thing is your willingness to share your time and make a connection. We’re happy to train you and help you discover new talents.
