International Abbeyfield Week June 1 to June 12

Abbeyfield House residents, staff and volunteers in our community are celebrating this year’s Abbeyfield Week from June 1 to 12.

Abbeyfield Canada is part of an international organization dedicated to providing a safe and affordable housing for independent seniors. Abbeyfield Canada has 20 Houses from Ontario to British Columbia, with more in development.

“The Abbeyfield Canada board is pleased to join our Houses in recognizing Abbeyfield Week,” board president Denis Laframboise said. “We hope the public will have the chance to become familiar with the Abbeyfield concept and the important role that Abbeyfield Houses play within their communities by offering a unique option for seniors’ housing.”

Abbeyfield Houses are each operated by local society with a volunteer board of directors. Staff are employed to look after household duties such as meal preparation and maintenance of the common areas within the House, and the external property. Residents each have their own suite and share dining and sitting rooms, kitchen and laundry facilities.
