Joanne Robinson, Flo’s Seniors CEO, and Abbeyfield Canada director, says, “Housing is fundamental to all these issues. And, yes, we have a housing crisis.”

Some of our Black seniors live on lower incomes and struggle to maintain their homes or, more commonly, pay rent in decent housing.

Too many of them live alone. Visits and occasional drop-bys from family are not enough. Joanne believes that our seniors need to live embedded in the community and in homes with people they know. She worked as a volunteer for two years exploring the #Abbeyfield shared accommodation model for her community.
