The Board of Directors of Orchard City Abbeyfield Society has an agreement with a Kelowna developer toward the eventual sale of the property. The decision to close
Abbeyfield House after over 25 years in operation has not been an easy one and has taken considerable time.

The volunteer board of directors has reached this point after weighing the age of the building and anticipated costs of upgrading and maintenance for
the coming years. There has been poor accessibility for emergency vehicles, Handi Dart, care aides, and other visitors since our entrance from Bernard Avenue was closed
following the widening of that road several years ago.

The projected future development of the surrounding neighbourhoods has also played a significant part in the decision. The application process is underway for development of the property.

Residents and staff are being kept informed as more information becomes available. In the meantime, Abbeyfield House is operating as usual.
